The Crisis Center brings together all of the services needed to provide quality crisis intervention services in a “one-stop” environment.

Services include:

Crisis Hotline and Information and Referral at 1-800-567-HOPE – 24-hour phone access for Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties staffed by mental health professionals.

Crisis Counseling – Mental health and addiction professionals staff the Crisis Center making counseling services available for those in need. The goal is to stabilize the situation and refer to the appropriate agency for ongoing service.

Screening and Crisis Intervention for Children and Adolescents – The Crisis Center provides a place for children and adolescents who are in a crisis. Some may be in need of referral to short-term inpatient care, crisis counseling, brief therapy or just linkage to the system of care.

Seamless Care from St. Rita’s Emergency Department– Once an individual is medically cleared at the Emergency Department, they can be discharged for further expert evaluation at the Crisis Center.

Emergency Diagnostic Assessment – Availability of this service can save many days/weeks of waiting time for an individual in need of immediate care.

Brief Therapy – A type of solution focused therapy that is designed to last 4-6 sessions. Individuals may attend this service after they have completed a diagnostic assessment. This therapy can also be used as a “bridge” to more intense or ongoing care.

Social Service Linking – Linkage may also be needed to other services in the community like short-term shelter, food or other medical care. By engaging the individual at the time of crisis and following up with services, many people can remain comfortably in the community.

Access to “After Hours” Care for:

·         Families and Clients – The Crisis Center provides a place where families feel safe to bring their loved one who is in crisis, as well as to collaborate with treatment professionals in their care.

·         Law Enforcement – Many times law enforcement officers encounter people who need treatment and not court involvement. The Crisis Center offers a place where officers can bring individuals in need of care without the long waits that have been customary.

·         Persons in Crisis – Many people have indicated that they need a safe place to go when they are in crisis. Having such an environment enables many to stay at home and in the community.

Referral to Psychiatric Inpatient Care – After completion of a crisis intervention assessment and consultation with the Medical Director, a consumer may be referred to St. Rita’s Medical Center Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.  The goal is to use this option as the “last resort” and to improve an individual’s stability in the community before accessing this alternative.

Follow-up Care – All consumers who receive services at the Crisis Center get a follow-up phone call within 24 hours to ensure they have the information and support necessary for their recovery.
