Family Resource Centers is committed to providing family-based mental health and substance abuse programming in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin and Hancock Counties.  The following is a description of services available to consumers.

 

Filial Play Therapy

Filial Play Therapy focuses on youth 3-10 years of age.  We believe that parent-child interaction is a key factor in family preservation.  Unhealthy familial patterns lead to problems in the family system.

 

Family Solutions Home Based Program

This program is designed to preserve families in their natural environment and to assist them in gaining insight into their family systems. The program will also assist families in gaining understanding of the problems associated with emotional/behavioral disorders as well as substance abuse.  The program may last from one to six months with an average of four to six hours per week of counseling and community support in the home and community.

 

Functional Family Treatment (FFT)

FFT is an evidence based family intervention program for youth and their families in various stages of disruption due to emotional, behavioral or substance abuse problems.  FFT focuses on improving family interaction, relapse prevention and utilization of community resources which encourage long term family preservation.

 

Sex Offender Program

The Sex Offender program offers a specialized treatment curriculum for juvenile offenders. The primary goals for this area of treatment are to eliminate recidivism, sex offending behaviors, and disruption to families.  Family members are expected to participate by attending groups and family counseling.

 

Family Works

The Family Works Wrap Program is a multi-disciplinary therapeutic approach for families who have not found success with traditional counseling and community resources. The target population is youth ages 8-17 with severe emotional disturbance and/or involvement in the court systems, Children’s Services and/or MR/DD.  The goals are 1) to prevent out of home placement, and 2) to increase family/natural community supports.

 

Diagnostic Assessment

Comprehensive assessments are available to youth and families.  The goal is to identify the treatment needs of consumers and ensure provision of quality services.

Outpatient Mental Health Services

These services provide mental health services for youth and families in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin and Hancock counties. Clients in outpatient services are usually not in eminent risk of out of home placement.  Treatment strategies include cognitive behavioral treatment, brief therapy, solution focused counseling, problem solving, and family treatment.  Outpatient services may be individual, family or group.

 

Recovery Services

Alcohol and drug abuse services are available for youth and families in the four county area who have been identified as using or abusing alcohol and/or illegal drugs.  FRC collaborates with other organizations such as hospitals, probation departments, and Children’s Services to ensure continuity of care for all clients.  This service also provides alcohol/drug groups with a focus on education, treatment and relapse prevention.

 

Emergency Services

Emergency services provide crisis intervention to youth during agency hours.  This service collaborates with hospitals, the HOPEline, and other community organizations to provide back up consultation for youth and their families to ensure accessibility and continuity of care.

 

Life Skills and Drug & Alcohol Prevention Programs

The Life Skills Program is an evidence based educational curriculum which is available to elementary and middle school students in the school setting. Life Skills assists youth in learning to abstain from drugs, alcohol and tobacco use. The program also enhances awareness by teaching youth to identify underlying factors causing vulnerability to substance abuse.

 

Columbia University Teen Screen
 
The Teen Screen, a voluntary health screen for youth ages 9-17 which targets early identification of mental health and substance abuse concerns.  The program screens for risk factors associated with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and other behavioral health conditions without making a formal diagnosis.  Youth screened are provided with short-term case management to ensure linkage to needed services.

 

Community Support Services

Community Support Services provide early identification, linkages to other community resources, monitoring symptoms, and education for severely emotionally disturbed youth and their families.  The primary goal of this program is to reduce hospitalizations, detention, and out of home placements.

 

Juvenile Court Program

Family Resource Centers provides on-site counseling, community support and prevention/education programming to incarcerated youth and their families.  This program is designed to reduce recidivism due to family disruption, substance abuse, and/or emotional and behavioral disorders. Collaboration with the court system and other community providers will be essential to ensure youth and their families receive counseling, prevention groups, and support system upon entering the juvenile justice system.

 

School Based Mental Health Program

School Based programming is a collaborative effort between the mental health and education systems to identify at-risk youth, promote academic success and increase the numbers of students graduating from high school.  FRC provides counselors and community support workers within the school setting to ensure early identification and on-going treatment intervention for all high risk students.  This program will also improve school personnel’s ability to identify and address behavioral disorders to ensure students receive interventions necessary to restore functioning.

 

Medication Somatic Services

Medication Somatic Services provide psychiatric support for severely emotionally disturbed youth, youth at risk for out of home placement, and youth discharged from psychiatric facilities.  Nurse case managers monitor clients receiving these services and increase public awareness of medication and psychiatric disorders through community events and meetings.

 

 Parent Project

The Parent Project is a 10-16 week parent training program designed specifically for parents of strong-willed or out of control adolescents and children.  The curriculum teachers concrete identification, prevention and intervention strategies for the most destructive behaviors such as poor school attendance and performance, alcohol and other drug use, gangs, runaways, and violent teens.

 

 Consumer Credit Counseling Service

Consumer Credit Counseling Service delivers professional consumer credit education, confidential counseling, and debt management programs to the community.  Families and individuals with financial difficulties are assisted in managing their money more effectively.
